Blue bird
These slightly silly wee birds certainly make my heart sing. I use new and antique fabrics, all hand stitched together. The beaks I whittle from wood and the legs are made from florist wire. After the bird is stitched together I then do free form stitching over the surface. No two birds are the same.

FLOWN TO A NEW HOMEmy starling
This is part of a series I am working on developing ravens, crows and in this case a starling. These birds are a lot larger. They feel quite life like which can cause consternation when I am sitting in a public space stitching one with a sharp needle etc - reactions of people passing is quite amusing! I am passionate about "slow stitching" this is a fibre technique of free forming stitching and always done by hand using antique fabrics, ribbons, and any odd scrap pieces I can lay my hands on. I have been working on a series of abstracted landscapes - this work is about the change of colour at the end of the day. The Kissing Season
When I was a teenager my wonderful dour scottish grandmother would say "och lassie when the gorse tis bloomin' tis the kissin' n courtin' season" but of course she was horrified that it blooms all year here in NZ - she used to regularly tell me "yah canna be kissn' boys all year!" I am quite certain I did not agree.Sterling silver, my own hand made glassArtist collectionA tall ship and the moon to steer her by
